5 out of 5 stars Excellent IC Recovery Guide   January 17, 2001

This book, as well as Catherine Simone's first book, is a must-have for anyone who is serious about taking charge of their own health and recovering from IC. A year ago, I read Cath's first book and began trying the suggestions she made. A year later, I am MUCH improved. I read her second book recently and found more useful information that I have already begun to put into practice. The suggestions she makes are self-help based and easy to do at home. She offers a very compelling theory for what causes IC and a practical approach to overcome it, always with the patient's comfort and safety in mind. She also encourages individual choice and research, rather than dictating some rigid program to follow. Her compassion and understanding of fellow IC sufferers really comes through. Finding Catherine's first book changed my life last year and her new book is prompting further changes. There's lots of hope and inspiration here!

Kuddos to Cathy Simone for again, taking her time to write another great book for IC patients worldwide. This book spells out in great detail helping hints for all of us to try at home, in moderation and with careful consideration of what we try. This book lists in detail things we may take, things we may try to help our bodies heal from this devastating disease that plagues so many of us around the world. She even puts in reflexology charts for us to follow easily, among many other helpful things that will guide the IC patient to examine her or his own bodies to help them determine what they need to do to get better or well from this painful disease. Thank you Cathy for all of your efforts to help us and I must tell you that I really like this book as well, if not better than "To Wake In Tears"...and I realy thought that book could not be beaten....Thanks for all of your help and your dedication to the IC patient, most of whom you have never seen before...For those of you reading Cathy Simone for the first time, I must tell you that I traveled to her home state just to see for myself if she really was living without the pain and devastation of IC and she was...she really was. She looked great and was back to a normal life again...She gives me hope and I can only pray that she gives each and every one of you who read this book the same...Remember, no one's body will be the same, so try very hard to read the book and look into your own body to determine what parts of the book apply to you.......Barb Willis

Catherine Simone has hit the mark again with her new book.Besides going into more detail about natural healing modalities she encourages IC patients to "find their own healing path" regardless if they have a medical doctor or alternative practioner. This is the message that I came away with personally, that we all have the power to heal ourselves and to trust your gut feelings. Although western medicine has offered IC patients some treatments and medicinces for this dreaded disease, they don't work for all IC patients and some are very invasive. Alternative medicine may not have all the answers either but Catherine Simone,a former IC sufferer herself,is living proof that alternative methods work and many others are finding this out as well.A must read for anyone with IC and wants to get well."The road less traveled" might be a longer road and not a familliar one,but it will get you to where you want to be....a better life in terms of health for the IC patient.

Finally, a voice of hope for what seems like a hopless and painful illness. Along the Healing Path: Recovering from Interstital Cystitis by Catherine M. Simone is a remarkably healing and powerful book to anybody trying to heal from "Interstitial Cystitis". Catherine offers safe and natural healing alternatives and approaches them all from her perspective as a recovering IC patient. I had heard about her first book "To Wake In Tears", and called to order the book, and had the pleasure of speaking to Catherine directly. I was so impressed with her compassion and knowledge of this dreaded disease. I was impressed that she took so much time to personally speak to me without expecting any type of financial compensation. I truly felt that she was an angel from God, and could not wait to read her book. After reading the book in a day, I called with some questions and she was so willing to share her information from her own recovery experience with me again, I was truly amazed. She informed me that she was working on a second book and I was so anxious to read the new book, I ordered it before it was even published. I was fortunate enough to recieve a copy this week, and completed it in a couple of hours. The book is easy reading, uplifting and so extremely helpful to anybody suffering from IC who is looking for non invasive solutions to curing this illness that modern medicine has claimed to be incurable. She has expanded on some of her remedies from "To Wake In Tears", and outlined a seven step "how to" guidleline for IC patients to safely use alternative herbs and other soothing remedies. She reiterates again and again, how every patient is different, and only tells us what worked for her. This is a key issue in treating this illness that mainstream medicine doesn't seem to comprehend or address. But yet, she never once criticizes mainstream medicine (I could not be that gracious, lol). She is so humble with sharing her experience in her illness and recovery. She offers many different solutions for different levels of severity of IC. Mainstream medicine seems to offer only invasive solutions which in my opinion make IC patients worse. Reading "Along the Healing Path: Recovering from Interstitial Cystitis" inspired me to stay on my natural healing approach. I've been experimenting for two years now on my own through diet and herbs. Catherine's book has confirmed everything I believe in and has offered more alternative options to use in my recovery. She is a true inspiration, and I would highly recommend this book to anyone who is in early, moderate or severe stages of IC. Catherine, you are truly an angel, and I hope you stay healthy forever. I hope whoever reads this book shares it with their medical practitioners as well. I can't wait to read her next book! Good luck to anyone reading this who is thinking of taking control of their own body and health, this is like a bible for the body.

The best thing about this book is that it is written by an IC patient, or should I say, a former IC patient. Catherine Simone is NOT another doctor or intern taking stabs in the dark at this thing called IC...she's been there; she's lived it. The great news is that she has bounced back from it. This book is truly a gift to anyone dealing with IC. The author not only tells her personal story, but she lists several suggestions for healing the bladder (and the rest of the body!) through natural means. Thank you, Catherine, for writing this book. It is a glimmer of hope in an otherwise dark cave. I would've rated this as a million stars!
